Description
At the indicated time we'll meet at the main entrance to the Lycee Moulay Idriss. There we'll start this panoramic tour of Fez that will take us to see its most important attractions at dusk. Here we go!
Our first stop will be at the Bab Bou Jeloud Gate, the famous blue gate of the city of Fez. Did you know that it's the main access to the Medina of Fez?
We'll get back on the bus to continue the panoramic tour to the Medina, and there we'll get off again to visit its main attractions. We'll pass by the Royal Palace of Fez, where we'll contemplate its magnificent gates. Did you know that it's one of the largest and oldest in Morocco? We'll also tell you the legends related to this luxurious building.
The next stop of the tour will be the Mellah, the Jewish quarter of Fez. This name comes from the word 'salt' in Arabic, something that had a great value in ancient times and that the Jews used as currency. There we'll talk about the Jewish community as we walk through its narrow streets and pass by the once luxurious cloth markets.
The tour will continue in the area of Borj Sud, where we'll enjoy one of the best views of Fez with the sunset in the background. Then we'll go to the potters' quarter, where we'll see how the traditional Moroccan pottery is still made. There we'll also tell you why Fez was one of the first cities in the world with a sewage system in the 10th century.
After an hour and a half of sightseeing, we'll end the tour back at the Bab Bou Jeloud Gate, the main entrance to the Medina of Fez.
