Immerse yourself in the history of Rabat with this tour of the old town of Morocco's capital, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Rabat Private Trip
After collecting you from your accommodation in Fez at the indicated time, we'll head to the Moroccan capital, located only a 2-hour drive away.
Once we arrive in the city, you'll have some free time to explore Rabat's ancient Medina at your own pace. Its rich architectural heritage and immaculate state of preservation earned it recognition as a World Heritage Site in 2012.
You can explore the esplanade, which is home to Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. Construction of the minaret was left unfinished in 1199 and you'll find out why on the tour. As you tour the site, you'll learn all about the artistic decisions behind the architectural design of the burial tomb.
Very close to the mausoleum and tower, you'll encounter the Kasbah of the Udayas. There are many fascinating secrets hidden within the walls of this 12th-century citadel. In the afternoon, after enjoying approximately 1 hour of free time for lunch, we'll continue our tour of the Morrocan capital at the royal palace of Rabat. Its iconic main gateway is one of the most famous in the country.
Our trip concludes with free time to visit to the fortified necropolis of Chellah, whose vestiges will transport you back to the Roman or Carthaginian empires, or even the Phoenician civilization. Then, we'll head back to Fez bringing the day to an end, after 11 hours.
