Merzouga Desert 2-Day Trip

Day 1: Fez - Ifrane - Azrou - Erfoud - Merzouga

After meeting in Fez, we'll leave the hustle and bustle of its streets to venture into the depths of Morocco. We'll cross the Middle Atlas Mountains and pass by villages such as Ifrane, called the "Moroccan Switzerland" for its architectural similarity to the European country, and Azrou, one of the most renowned Amazigh towns in the whole country.

Later, we'll cross the Ziz Valley and the Ziz Gorges until we reach the town of Erfoud, where we'll begin our journey through the desert all the way to Merzouga.

As the evening light starts to tinge in the sky, we'll climb on the back of camels to reach our camp. Once we arrive there, we'll enjoy a delicious traditional dinner under the moonlight and revel in the immensity of the Moroccan desert at night, surrounded by the overwhelming silence and the starry sky.

Day 2: Merzouga - Rissani - Alni - Tizi N'Tfrkhin - Ouarzazate - Marrakech

Before the sun starts to emerge over the desert, we'll wake up to admire the breathtaking moment of the sunrise in the Erg Chebbi desert. After taking in this exceptional view, we'll get back on our camels to go to a hotel where we'll have breakfast and shower (depending on the selected camp, breakfast and shower can be taken before the camel ride).

After leaving the desert, we'll start our journey to Marrakech, where we'll cross the beautiful palm grove of Tafilalet and the famous village of Rissani, where the Alaouite dynasty, which continues to reign in present-day Morocco, originated.

Later, after crossing the acacia plateaus and the stony deserts of the area we'll reach Alnif, where we'll take the road that will take us through the Anti Atlas mountain range and Tizi N'tfarkhin, as well as the village of Tinghir and the Dades Valley.

Around noon we'll arrive at Klaat M'Gouna, where we'll stop to relax, stretch our legs, and feast on traditional Moroccan cuisine to recover our strength before resuming our journey. Prior to arriving in Marrakech, we'll admire two of the most iconic places in Morocco: the beautiful town of Ouarzazate and the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains.

Around 8:30 pm we'll arrive in Marrakech, where we'll part ways after a wonderful experience in the Moroccan desert.

Alternative to Camel Ride On Day 2

There's an option for a camel ride from the dunes of Erg Chebbi to the tented camp where we'll spend the night. For those who prefer not to take the camel ride, it's possible to reach the camp by 4x4. In this case, there will be an additional fee of €65 to be paid on-site.

Camps

This tour has two different kinds of camps. The standard category rooms have communal showers in the camp, while the superior category rooms have private bathrooms in the haimas and showers in the camp. The haimas are double or, if you prefer, triple or family rooms.
