Description
At the time of your choice, we'll meet at the main gate of the Lycée Moulay Idriss. From there, we'll start a guided tour of Fez that will take us to discover the monuments hidden in the alleys of the Medina. Welcome to the cultural capital of Morocco!
We'll start the tour by talking about the Bab Bou Jeloud, also known as the Blue Gate, the main entrance of the Medina of Fez. We'll walk to the Al-Attarine Madrasa, one of the main Koranic schools where students used to reside. Nearby, we'll find the Bou Inania Madrasa and visit its interior, which is covered with stucco walls, wood, and tiles with geometric motifs—an architectural jewel!
Then, we'll continue our walking tour in Talaa Kebira and Talaa Seguira. These two important streets, as well as commercial hotspots, contain a series of historical monuments that we'll discover. We'll arrive at the Mausoleum of Mulay Idris, did you know that it's one of the most sacred places in the Medina? We'll see why!
The next stop will be outside the al-Qarawiyyin Mosque. At its door, we'll talk about one of the largest architectural complexes in Fez, known for housing the oldest university in the world. We'll continue to wander through the Medina in search of souks and ancient squares where time seems to have stood still, we'll even find an Andalusian quarter!
Our visit could not end without visiting the oldest tannery in the city: Sidi Moussa. Afterward, we'll arrive at Seffarine Square, where one of the oldest trades in Fez is preserved, that of the boilermaker craftsmen.
After 3 hours, we'll end our guided tour of Fez in R'cif Square.
