Itinerary
Meet us at "I Love Faro" sign at the Faro Lighthouse, in front of the O Coreto Restaurant. to kick off our free tour of the Algarve capital.
From there we'll stroll along the streets of Faro that will bring us to Palacete Belmarço, built in the early 20th century its become a quintessential site of the city.
Continuing our route, we'll come to the historic Arco de la Villa which will serve as the doorway into the oldest part of the city.
Our journey continues along Largo da Sé, a picturesque square adorned with vibrant orange trees and dominated by the Cathedral of Faro. This historic cathedral, dating back to the 13th century, was erected upon the remnants of an ancient mosque and has undergone several restorations, particularly following a devastating earthquake that shook the city nearly 300 years ago.
Our tour proceeds through the Arco da Porta Nova, a significant architectural complex within the city. We'll then venture to the exterior of the Old Brewery and the Municipal Museum of Faro, delving deeper into the rich history of this captivating city.
Wandering through the old town, we'll pass by the Lethes theatre and the Doglioni palace until we reach the Gate of the sea walls, the main maritime entry to the city. Here we can enjoy the views of this part of Faro and end our free tour by the old city walls.
Our last stop is Dom Alfonso III Square, graced by a majestic bronze sculpture honoring the warrior king.
We'll bring our tour to a close at the Arco do Repouso, wrapping up our captivating two-hour exploration of the city.
