Description
After picking you up from your hotel or the cruise port in Falmouth, we'll set off on a 40-minute journey to Montego Bay. Once we're there, we'll begin a guided tour of the city.
We'll visit all the main points of interest in this town, which are walking distance from each other. We'll visit the Saint James Parish, a church located next to a cemetery with over 200 years of history. We'll also pass by the sculpture of Samuel Sharpe, Jamaica's national hero. Did you know that his face is also on the Jamaican 50 dollar bills? We'll find out all about him and his achievements on the tour.
Very close to Sam Sharpe Square we'll come across The Cage and learn about the tragic history accompanies it. This enclosure was used in the 1800s as a prison for slaves and drunkards who remained in the streets of Montego Bay after the bell was rung at three o'clock in the afternoon.
Then we'll have some time to shop at the local handicraft market where you can learn about the traditional Jamaican lifestyle.
There's also an incredible panoramic view from Richmond Hill where you'll be able to see the coastline and mountains of Montego Bay and take some stunning pictures.
But it's not over yet! Back in Falmouth we'll admire the outside of Rose Hall; one of the many mansions found on the island's extensive banana plantations. What stories do these walls hold? We'll find out before we arrive in Falmouth.
