Combine history and nature on a guided tour through Eze, a stunning medieval town on the French Riviera, including a visit to the famous Exotic Garden of Eze!
Eze Guided Tour
We'll begin our guided tour through Eze, starting from the town's fortified gate dating back to the 14th century. Here, we'll pause to appreciate the Eze coat of arms bearing the inscription "Isis Moriendo Renascor," which translates to "I was reborn when I died." We'll dive into the history behind these powerful words as we enter the Old Town of this beautiful Provençal city in Cote d'Azur.
Leaving behind the impressive city entrance, our journey takes us to Place du Planet, and from there, we'll continue to Château des Riquiers. Here, we'll find the Town Hall building and the History Museum. On exhibit, we'll see a wide variety of tools, clothing, weapons, and documents, adding to the historical aspect of the tour.
Our next stop takes us to the Santa Cruz Chapel, which dates back to the 12th century. Upon entering, we'll be treated to a beautiful collection of frescoes and statues complemented by a beautiful 1515 altarpiece painted by Luis Brea.
Continuing our route, we'll come to the Exotic Garden of Eze, home to over 400 species of plants and cacti. Throughout the garden, we'll find statues depicting different goddesses by renowned sculptor Philippe Richard. We'll admire beautiful panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and the French Riviera from this privileged vantage point.
Then, after 1.5 hours of walking through the gardens and Eze, we'll bring our guided tour to an end by visiting the neoclassical Notre-Dame de l'Assomption Church, dating from the 18th century.
