Trevelin & Futaleufú Excursion
We'll depart from your hotel in Esquel at 2:30 pm. Half an hour later, we'll arrive in Trevelin, a Patagonian town that developed in the second half of the 19th century. The reason? The arrival of Welsh settlers to this remote area of Argentina.
During the guided tour of Trevelin, we'll learn about the history of these British immigrants. Their legacy is still very present in the Regional Museum, where we'll learn all about their way of life. We'll also see some chapels and Welsh-style homes built in the area.
We'll continue our excursion to Los Alerces National Park, a beautiful and extensive natural space that borders Chile in the west. Here, we'll walk along the shore of Amutui Quimey Lake, the resources of which are used by the Futaleufú Hydroelectric Complex, a large dam that regulates the flow of water.
After visiting the hydroelectric complex we'll return to Trevelin, where you'll have an hour at leisure to enjoy a Welsh-style snack. Most of the local cafés typically offer British menus with tea, pastries, toast with jam, and muffins - bon appetit!
Finally, we'll return to your hotel in Esquel, where we'll arrive at 7:30 pm.
