What was life like before Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD? We'll discover all about how the Romans used to live on this private tour in Herculaneum.

What was life like before Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD? We'll discover all about how the Romans used to live on this private tour in Herculaneum.

Explore Herculaneum

We'll start this private tour of Herculaneum at the ticket office at the time indicated. Are you ready to travel back to the time of the Ancient Roman Empire? Let's go!

In the year 79 AD, the volcano Vesuvius erupted violently. Lava and rocks spread over towns across the Empire, including Pompeii and Herculaneum. The latter's remains can be visited today at this important archaeological site, where you can see the main buildings hidden for centuries under the ashes.

We'll start the tour by exploring the ancient North Street and, from here, continue around the ruins of other important buildings. We'll also stop in hallways and public spaces like the amphitheatre.

Along our route, we'll discover many ancient sites in this urban town, such as Neptune's House, the Temple of Augustus, the House of the Deer and Casa dello Scheletro.

After a 2 hour guided tour, we'll return to the meeting point, where you can continue exploring the site on your own if you like.
