Madsen House Guided Tour
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the entrance of the Madsen House. Are you ready to travel back in time and explore one of the first houses in El Chaltén? Welcome!
Upon arrival, we'll start this tour of the house built by Andreas Madsen, a Danish pioneer who arrived at El Chaltén more than a century ago and had an impressive life in this remote location in Patagonia. Curious to know why this Danish man left Denmark behind and why he traveled to Argentina? We'll tell you all about his history!
We'll explore the Madsen House and see a perfectly preserved home with walls built with hand-cut lenga wood logs. Inside, you'll admire different artifacts and tools, as well as original furniture and pictures that will show you the life of the Madsen family, one of the first in Patagonia.
After learning how this family built a home in this untamed location, you'll have the chance to enjoy a cup of tea or a coffee accompanied by desserts. It'll be the best way to continue learning about this house's history!
To end this tour on a high note, 1.5 hours later, we'll say goodbye by admiring the landscape of Mount Fitz Roy and the Las Vueltas River.
