Mount Fitz Roy 2-Day Hike
Day 1: El Calafate - Poincenot
We'll pick you up from your hotel in El Calafate at the indicated time and set off on a 3-hour drive to El Chaltén, where our adventure will begin.
Once there, we'll take you to the Hostelería El Pilar, the starting point of a self-guided hiking route through Mount Fitz Roy. The first 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) of the route run parallel to the Blanco River up to the Piedras Blancas glacier viewpoint. Along the trail, you'll see the abundant Patagonian vegetation, in which the native ñires and lengas stand out.
Afterwards, you'll find the fork where you can take the trail, about 3 kilometers (2 miles) long, that will lead you to the spectacular Laguna de los Tres. You can also stay at this point to admire the needles of Mount Fitz Roy, a mountain known worldwide by rock climbers.
After marveling at the incredible panoramic views, you'll make your way back down to the camp where you can have dinner and rest in your tent until the next day.
Day 2: Poincenot - El Calafate
We'll start the day off with some breakfast at the foot of Mount Fitz Roy to get some energy before we set off on the path toward El Chaltén, where you'll arrive at 5 pm. There, a minibus will be waiting for us to take us back to El Calafate, where we'll finish our adventure around 8:30 pm.
