Day Trip Details

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in El Calafate to kick off our trip to El Chaltén. During the drive along National Route 40, we'll admire the immensity of the Patagonian steppe and, in the distance, the unmistakable silhouette of Mount Fitz Roy dominating the horizon.

After a 3-hour drive, we'll arrive at El Chaltén, where we'll make a brief stop so that you can get ready before starting the hike. From there, we'll head to the Electric River Bridge, the starting point of our hiking route.

First up, we'll head towards the Piedras Blancas viewpoint. In this first stretch, which takes about 1.5 hours, we'll gain altitude while enjoying spectacular views of the glacier. From here, the trail descends gently to Poincenot Base Camp, where we'll arrive about 2 hours after starting the hike.

At this point, you can choose whether you want to continue to the end or take a less demanding route to the Capri Lagoon, where you can have lunch before rejoining the rest of the group.

If you decide to reach the Laguna de los Tres, we'll cross the bridge over the Blanco River and ascend a path that, in just 3 km (1.8 mi), overcomes a drop of 430 m (1,410 ft). The reward for the effort is incomparable: a spectacular view of the lagoon, with the Fitz Roy and its glacier reflected in its crystal clear waters, a true spectacle of nature!

In this magical place, we'll have time to have lunch and take some beautiful pictures. With our energies replenished, we'll start the descent back to Poincenot Camp and continue to Capri Lagoon.

Finally, after a hike of approximately 20 km (12.4 mi), we'll reach El Chaltén and start our return to El Calafate. We'll say goodbye at your hotel after a total of 15 to 16 hours after picking you up.
