La Leona Petrified Forest Hike
La Leona Petrified Forest Hike
After picking you up from your hotels at 9 am, we'll jump on board the bus and go on a three-hour journey to the petrified forest of La Leona.
On our road trip, we'll see several places of interest in the area, such as Lake Argentino, the Santa Cruz River, the Andes Mountains and Mount Fitz Roy. We'll also make a short stop at the halfway point to stretch our legs.
Finally, we'll reach the slopes of Cerro Los Hornos to set off on our hike. A fascinating trail awaits us within the petrified forest, a unique natural space where we'll get to see numerous fossils.
What's more, we'll even find over tree trunks that are over 70 million years old. These fossils were hidden as treasures for centuries, but the force of the wind and the rain have made them visible. If we're lucky we'll also be able to see some remains of the dinosaurs that inhabited these lands for years.
We'll stop for lunch and then start making our way back. We'll get back to El Calafate at around 4:30 pm to 5 pm.
