Discover the stunning natural beauty of El Chaltén on this exciting hiking route to the Huemul Glacier Lookout. You'll fall in love with the sights!
Tour Details
We'll pick you up from your hotel in El Calafate at the designated time to begin our journey north on the famous Ruta 40. During the trip, you'll see the native fauna and, if the weather allows it, you'll have the chance to admire a spectacular sunrise over the hills.
After approximately 4 hours, we'll reach El Chaltén. Here, we'll share details about the route we're about to embark on and provide you with the necessary equipment, maps, and information for the hike. Are you ready?
To reach the hike's starting point, we'll go on board an offroading vehicle and drive 22 miles (37 kilometers) to Desert Lake. At this site, you'll admire stunning views of Mount Fitz Roy.
Once we arrive at the starting point, it will be time to embark on our hike to the Huemul Glacier Lookout. This low-difficulty self-guided hiking route will take you through a lush forest, allowing you to enjoy a serene environment.
When you reach the lookout, you'll be amazed by the scenic views and incredible turquoise waters of Huemul Lagoon. You're in for a true visual spectacle! We recommend descending to the lake's shores afterward, where you can relax, take a break, and, if you wish, enjoy your lunch surrounded by this beautiful scenery.
We'll regroup at the end of this hike to begin our journey back to your hotel in El Calafate, where we'll say goodbye after this 15-hour activity.
