Düsseldorf Free Tour
Tour Details
At the designated time we'll meet at Neustraße to kick off this free walking tour of Düsseldorf. Ready to get to know this unique city in the west of Germany?
We'll begin our adventure in the historical centre, also known as Altstadt. This part of the city is particularly famous for its many breweries and bars—it has over 300 in fact! Did you know that locals have nicknamed the area the 'Longest Bar in the World'? We'll then wander over to the Marktplatz to admire the facade of the Town Hall and other historical buildings in this cobbled square.
Next stop? The Rheinuferpromenade. Along this street on the waterfront, we'll have great scenic views of the river Rhine and the city, so make sure you've brought your cameras! From here, we'll walk over to one of Düsseldorf's most ancient buildings: St. Lambertus Basilica. As we admire its gothic exterior, we'll reveal the history and significance of its famous twisted spire.
After passing by iconic buildings such as the Maritime Museum and the Opera House, we'll reach Hofgarten, Düsseldorf's 'green lung'. As we stroll through this peaceful park, we'll keep an eye out for the composer Robert Schuman, commemorated in this green space with a statue.
Shopaholics, this next landmark is the one for you! Königsallee is one of Europe's most luxurious shopping boulevards, considered the Champs-Élysées of Germany. Once we've strolled down it, we'll then make our way to see the outside of the Heine Haus, a true gem for lovers of literature, and the Robert Schumann Haus, a significant house for the history of music.
Our last stop will be at a hidden gem in the city, the Maritime Relog. Why is it so important to Düsseldorf's maritime history? Find out on this tour!
Lastly, we'll head over to the Triton Fountain and, immersed in this character's mythology, our free walking tour will come to an end at Königsallee, after a total of 2 hours.
