Nombre de Díos Day Trip
Nombre de Díos Day Trip
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Durango and set off for Nombre de Díos. In this pueblo mágico (magic town), we'll discover the most breathtaking scenic spots in the area.
First, we'll stop at the El Saltito Waterfalls to admire the 66-foot (20-metre) high waterfalls cascading from the Mezquital River. We'll then head to the Berros Springs, which have natural pools with water from the Acaponeta River. Time for a dip!
Nearby, we'll find the small village of La Constancia, where we'll see the Las Compuertas stream, which is surrounded by fig, peach, and apricot trees. We'll then go to the El Malpaís mezcalería, where you'll be able to try some mezcal liquor. If you're a fan of Westerns, you'll love our next stop: a stage where part of the film A Man Called Horse was shot.
We'll then reach Nombre de Díos, which was founded by the Spanish in 1563. As we stroll through its cobblestone streets, we'll admire its historic monuments such as the ex-convent of San Francisco. We'll also go to the outskirts of the town so you can see El Cuevón, an incredible landscape inhabited by golden eagles.
Lastly, we'll return to Durango where we should arrive at your hotel at 6.5 hours later.
