Mexiquillo Natural Park Day Trip
Mexiquillo Natural Park Day Trip
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Durango and set off for the Mexiquillo Natural Park.
After a 2-hour drive, we'll arrive at our destination and approach a beautiful lake surrounded by coniferous forests and pine trees endemic to this area. We'll then walk to the Stone Garden, a vast expanse of petrified lava rock formations shaped by wind erosion.
We'll then visit the Mexiquillo waterfall, which towers 65 feet (20 metres) over the La Ciudad River.
Afterwards, we'll head inside the different tunnels of an unfinished railway project, which have merged with the nature in the park. These tunnels are 20 feet (6 metres) high and 328 feet (100 metres) long, but there are some that stretch out for almost 1 mile!
Our next stop will be a breathtaking viewpoint from which we'll see exceptional views of Durango state's green lung. Keep your eyes peeled for the many cliff chipmunks that live here!
Finally, we'll leave the natural park and return to your hotel in Durango, where we should arrive 7 hours later.
