Climb on board a majestic replica of a 16th-century karaka and enjoy an unforgettable tour of the Elaphiti islands off the Croatian coast!
Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel or chosen meeting point and make our way to Gruž Port. There we'll climb on board a Karaka, the majestic boat with which we'll take this cruise: a detailed replica of an authentic 16th-century galleon. It was thanks to boats such as this one that the Republic of Ragusa came to rival Venice for mercantile control of the Mediterranean.
We'll arrive at the first of the Elaphiti islands, Koločep, where you'll have an hour of free time. This island was an important centre for the construction of boats over several centuries, with a population of expert sailors. It's also known as the home of seven pre-Romanesque churches, constructed between the 9th and 11th centuries.
Next, we head to Šipan, the largest of the Elafphiti Islands. During your free time, we'll see the old summer mansions of the aristocracy, and wander among the cypress, lemon and orange groves which are scattered across the island's delightful landscape. Its port and its quiet beaches offer delightful views of the coast and other islands.
Our final stop will be Lopud, where you'll have free time to discover the gardens and parks of the island or to pass along the bay and admire the old Franciscan monastery. Lopud also has delightful sandy beaches, so you can enjoy a dip and relax in the warmth of the sun.
We leave Lopud and end the tour back at the starting point.
