Discover the rugged beauty of the west of Ireland on this day trip to the Aillwee Caves and the Cliffs of Moher from Dublin. We'll also enjoy a boat trip along the wild Atlantic coast.
Description
We'll meet at the Molly Malone statue on Suffolk Street in Dublin at the designated time. After boarding the bus and meeting your guide and fellow adventurers, we'll depart westward. Along the way, you'll see quaint villages, lush countryside, and even some castle ruins as we traverse Ireland.
Our first stop will be to the Aillwee Caves, where we'll explore this impressive cave system, that offers a unique karst landscape. Dating back 330 million years, these are the oldest caves in Ireland. We'll discover the geological and historical mysteries of these caves as we travel 850 metres below ground to see amazing rock formations, waterfalls, and historic bear hibernation chambers. This underground world is sure to captivate you!
Next, we'll embark on an hour-long boat ride along the Cliffs of Moher. This scenic cruise offers a different perspective of the cliffs, allowing you to appreciate their grandeur from below.
After the boat ride, you'll have the chance to walk along the top of the Cliffs of Moher, enjoying the iconic view and visiting the visitor centre to learn more about the area's history, flora, fauna, and geology.
Finally, we'll return to Dublin, arriving after a total of around 12.5 hours, where we'll say our goodbyes.
Winter Tours
Please note that during the winter season (November to March), the boat tour will be replaced by an exciting birds of prey experience. We'll visit a conservation centre to learn all about the fascinating winged creatures that inhabit the area around the Cliffs of Moher. We'll also visit the Bunrraty Castle, whose origins date back to the year 1425. It will be a real journey back in time!
