Do you want to visit one of the largest castles in England? With this ticket to Dover Castle, you'll learn all about this medieval fortress, including its role in World War II.
Description
Situated at the narrowest point of the English Channel, Dover Castle is one of the largest and most strategically important strongholds in the United Kingdom. It's for this reason that it's known as the 'Lock and Key of England'.
On your visit to Dover Castle, the medieval exhibition will bring you back to the time of King Henry II and learn about how this remarkable monument came to be in the 12th century.
Inside the castle, you'll see the recreation of various rooms, such as private chambers, guest rooms, the great halls, the armory, the kitchen, and much more! The castle also offers incredible views of the Strait of Dover as well as Dover itself.
You can also access the atmospheric medieval underground tunnels built into the white cliffs of Dover. These once-secret tunnels played a crucial role during World War II. As you'll learn about during your visit, it was here that the Miracle of Dunkirk occurred in the 1940s.
