The Kongo Mosque, camel and boat rides, the Sacred Forest of Kaya Kinondo, Shimoni... On this excursion along the Kenyan coast, we'll take you to discover the most spectacular places in Mombasa and Diani.
Day Trip Along the Kenyan Coast
We'll pick you up at your hotel between 8 and 9 am to embark on a very complete tour of the Kenyan coast.
The first place we'll visit is the Kongo Mosque, the oldest mosque in East Africa. Built by Arab traders in the 14th century, this temple is located in a magnificent setting, surrounded by a garden of huge baobabs, the Congo River, and, of course, the Indian Ocean.
From here we'll head to the river bank, where we'll board a canoe for a leisurely ride through its mangrove forests. After an hour of cruising and watching the wildlife that inhabits the area, we'll head to Diani beach.
What could be more typical in Diani than a camel ride in front of the sea? We'll greet these friendly animals and enjoy a camel ride along the beach - perfect for visiting the paradise beaches of southeastern Kenya!
Afterwards, we'll continue our excursion by traveling to the Sacred Forest of Kaya Kinondo. We'll stroll through this spectacular natural enclave that is sacred for the Digo people and admire the more than 180 species of plants it houses.
At 1 pm we'll head over to Shimoni, where we'll refresh and recharge with lunch at a local restaurant specializing in seafood. Once we've eaten, we'll take a guided tour of Shimoni, visiting and learning about the must-see places, including the cave and its ancient cemetery.
To put the finishing touch to the day, we'll take a boat ride on the Wasini Channel, where, in addition to snorkeling in its waters, we'll enjoy a breathtaking sunset.
We'll finish the excursion by returning to your hotel at approximately 7 pm.
