Polonnaruwa & Pidurangala Day Trip
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Dambulla. From there, we'll travel to the old city of Polonnaruwa by minibus, which should take around 1 hour 30 minutes.
When we arrive, we'll swap the minibus for bikes and start exploring the ruins, which have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This place is one of the oldest kingdoms in Sri Lanka, as it was founded by King Vijayabahu almost a millennium ago in 1070.
After exploring the remains of this ancient city, we'll head to the outskirts where an ox-drawn cart will take us on a ride around the countryside. Following the cart ride, we'll take a short boat trip on Bendiweva Lake and then a tuk-tuk tour of the local area.
Our next stop will be Pidurangala. This beautiful spot is the ideal place for those who want to get away from the bustling crowds of the city and feel at one with nature.
During your visit to this Buddhist complex, you'll see the ruins of an ancient monastery. If you're feeling adventurous, you can climb to the top of Pidurangala Rock and see breathtaking views of Sigiriya.
We'll then take you back to your hotel in Dambulla, where we should arrive at 2 pm.
