Both nature and culture await on our Habarana Day Trip from Dambulla. You'll visit a beautiful small city, learn all about the lifestyle of the locals and sample the delicious cuisine.

Habarana Day Trip

At 10 am we'll pick you up from your hotel in Dambulla and drive to Habarana, which is only 30 minute's drive away. Once we arrive, we'll start exploring Habarana to get a first-hand insight into the lifestyle of the locals.

In this community, the ox-drawn cart is the main means of transportation. You'll get to experience what it's like, as we'll take one of these vehicles to the shores of Lake Habarana.

Once we reach the lake, we'll take a relaxing cruise down the lake so you can discover its exotic flora and fauna from the comfort of the boat. Afterwards, we'll dock next to a rice field so you can learn all about the importance of rice cultivation in Sri Lanka and stroll through the rice paddies.

We hope you're hungry! Our next stop will be the home of a local family, who'll welcome us into their house and teach us how to prepare several typical Sri Lankan dishes. Afterwards, we'll taste our creations and enjoy a delicious buffet lunch of rice, curry, fish, salad and, of course, crispy papadam.

Lastly, we'll drive back to your hotel in Dambulla, where we should arrive at 1:30 pm.
