Experience a genuine African mass at the magnificent Keur Moussa monastery. Our trip from Dakar will make your holiday in Senegal one you will never forget.
What to expect
At 9 am, we will collect you from your hotel in Dakar before driving inland towards the beautiful district of Thiès.
After a journey of around an hour, we will arrive at Keur Moussa, an elegant Benedictine monastery where monks live and worship far from civilization. Once we have arrived, we will enter the shrine and begin an experience you will never forget. Here, you will witness a genuine Sunday African mass.
As soon as you step inside the monastery, you will hear the wonderful sound of the Gregorian chanting which marks the start of the ceremony. You will also hear the enchanting traditional West African instruments which accompany the singing, such as the kora, balafon, and djembe.
When the mass has finished, we will take you to monastery's shop, where you will discover a range of handicrafts made by the Senegalese monks. You can even buy one as a souvenir of your brilliant trip!
The trip to Keur Moussa finishes back at Dakar where we drop you back at your hotel at around 1 pm.
