Maras Excursion with Salt Massage + Moray & Misminay
Between 8 and 8:30 am, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Cusco. There we'll start an excursion that will take us to visit 3 of the great attractions of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
After introductions, we'll go to the town of Maras, which still preserves its houses with colonial façades. There, we'll go to its famous salt mines and salt ponds, which date back to Inca times, a truly unique landscape!
After learning about this salt's properties, we'll go to the indigenous community of Misminay, where we'll start with a welcome snack. Here we'll have the opportunity to witness and learn about the local way of life, based on agricultural and textile tasks. Then, before continuing, we'll have lunch consisting of a starter, a main course and a drink.
Next, we set off on a hike to a viewpoint where you can see the archaeological center of Moray. At nearly 11,500 feet (3,500 meters) above sea level, we'll find an amphitheater of circular platforms. Do you know what function it had at the height of the Inca Empire? We'll tell you all about his and many other curiosities as we walk through this site!
Upon our return, a massage with Maras salt will be waiting for us. What are its health benefits? Some of the women from the community will tell us all about its properties while we enjoy a medicinal foot bath with these salts and different herbs.
Finally, after eight hours, we'll conclude the excursion back at your hotel in Peru.
