Machu Picchu Day Trip
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to head straight for the train station that will take us to the famed archaeological site of Machu Picchu. Let's get to know one of the Seven Wonders of the World!
Take a seat as we settle in for one of the world's most spectacular railway rides, traversing through breathtaking landscapes, as we come to our final destination. As we arrive at Aguas Calientes, we'll board a bus for a short 30-minute ride and before we know it, we'll arrive at the Lost City of the Incas.
As we enter the archeological site, we'll begin our guided visit of Machu Picchu. Full of wonder, mystery, and incredible engineering feats, the site offers various significant landmarks to discover. Along our route, we'll visit several points of interest still standing centuries later, as we dive into the sacred symbolism and mythology behind Inca culture.
Then, after an immersive experience, we'll make the return to Aguas Calientes where you'll have free time to enjoy a classic Peruvian lunch at any local restaurant nearby. Depending on the train schedule, we'll enjoy free time in the village for 2-5 hours.
Finally, we'll return to Cusco and bring you back to your hotel, arriving anywhere from 14 to 18 hours later.
Types of Train
The excursion to Machu Picchu takes place on panoramic trains with huge windows and glass roofs—travelling on these trains is like flying! We offer the option to travel economy class (Expedition or Voyager train) and first class (Vistadome or The 360º train).
Departure Stations and Transfers
Both departing and returning trains from Cusco operate from Poroy station (30 minutes from Cusco) or Ollantaytambo station (1.5 hours from Cusco) depending on availability. During the rainy season (December to March), Poroy station is closed so we'll travel by bus to Ollantaytambo station. When booking your reservation, we'll send you an email confirmation indicating the exact time of pickup at your hotel and which train station we'll be leaving from.
The transfer times depend on the departure station. From Poroy to Aguas Calientes expect 4 hours, however, from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, expect 1.5 hours of travel time.
Pickup
Pickup is between 4 am and 6 am from the hotels in the historic centre of Cusco. If your accommodation is not in the centre, we'll meet you at the door of the Cathedral, in the Plaza de Armas. The pickup time will be confirmed in the days before the activity, as this will depend on the availability of the trains.
Important
In the event of the activity being cancelled due to strikes or unfavourable weather conditions, we'll give you an alternative date for the tour. If the tour cannot be rescheduled, please note that you'll be refunded the full cost of the activity,

This activity does not include admission tickets to the archaeological site, these must be purchased by yourself. Please take into account the following times and routes for the trip, so that it can be carried out normally, in line with official logistics:
