On this Ilha do Mel (Honey Island) tour we'll head to Pontal do Paraná and board a boat to enjoy the natural and monumental landscapes of this island in the Paranaguá Bay.
Ilha do Mel Tour
At 7 am we'll pick you up at your hotel in Curitiba and drive to Pontal do Paraná by minibus.
After an hour and a half we'll get off the minibus and board a boat that will take us to Mel Island, our final destination. Are you ready to start exploring this beautiful natural landscape?
We'll skirt this island in the bay of Paranaguá and disembark at the base of Morro das Conchas. From here, we'll climb some 200 steps to reach the great lighthouse that crowns this hill. Did you know that it was built by order of Pedro II of Brazil in 1872? We'll learn about the history of this work while enjoying the views of the beaches and the lush vegetation of Mel Island.
Afterwards, we'll walk to a local restaurant to replenish our energy with a lunch consisting of a typical dish. After lunch, you'll have three hours of free time to take a dip, sunbathe and visit the island's craft shops.
You can also take advantage of this time to visit the fortress of Nuestra Señora de los Placeres, an 18th-century military construction that played an important role in the defence of the island and the mainland itself.
Finally, we'll meet up to return to the boat and drop you off at your hotel at 7 pm.
