Ingapirca Ruins Day Trip
Ingapirca Ruins Day Trip
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Cuenca at the scheduled time, and once we're all assembled, we'll head towards the archaeological complex of Ingapirca.
Our first destination will be the Gothic Basilica of the Virgen del Rocío, located to the south of Cuenca. This grand structure is made up of 49 impressive granite columns and 36 arches. Be sure to check out the miracle that took place on the hill of Zhalao while you're there.
Upon arrival at the Ingapirca complex, we'll embark on a guided tour of the ancient pre-Columbian city. As we explore, we'll see the lintels, tombs, the Face of the Inca, the Vaguada, La Condamine, and other structures while also learning about the secrets behind their perfectly cut and positioned stones.
We'll pause at the Temple of the Sun, one of the country's most prominent indigenous astronomical sites. Here, we'll explore the theories about this sanctuary and discuss the human and animal sacrifices once performed here.
Are you feeling peckish? After our tour of Ingapirca, we'll take you to a restaurant where you can indulge in a delicious meal. Finally, we'll head back to Cuenca, where you'll arrive at your hotel after an eight-hour trip.
