Inca Trail Trekking from Culebrillas to Ingapirca
Description
After picking you up at your accommodation in Cuenca at the indicated time, we'll go to the point where we'll start this trekking route along the Inca Trail. Let's discover the wonderful landscapes that go from Culebrillas to Ingapirca!
The walk begins at the Culebrillas lagoon, whose natural beauty captivates everyone who visits the region. From there, we'll start walking along a paved path that'll take us through ranches and tampus built by the Incas. What's the history of this path that once connected Quito with Cusco? We'll tell you all about it!
Halfway through the hike, we'll reach a maximum elevation of 4,100 metres (13,451 feet) above sea level, but the effort will be well worth it, as we'll be rewarded with impressive panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. At the end of the road, we'll come across the village of San José, where we can enjoy the warm welcome of the local children and take a break. We'll also enjoy a typical lunch to refuel.
Once we're re-energised, we'll visit the archaeological site of Ingapirca, considered to be one of the most important Inca sites in Ecuador. While exploring these amazing ruins, we'll tell you about the Cañari and Inca cultures.
After 10 hours of trekking along the Inca Trail, we'll take you back to your hotel in Cuenca.
