At the designated time, we'll meet at the starting point that you select and drive to Cava San Miguel, only 15 minutes away from the centre of Cuenca.
Once we arrive at this rum factory, we'll take you on a guided tour where we'll explain how sugarcane is transformed into a drink at this high altitude. Learn all about its origins and enjoy its unique aromas!
Thousands of oak barrels are held in the Cava San Miguel cellars, which store the distilled sugarcane drinks. Thanks to the permeability and quality of the wood, along with strict controls of each barrel and sophisticated selection methods, these spirits over time turn into Ecuador’s only natural and authentic rum.
Of course, we cannot end the tour without a rum tasting. Cheers!
Afterwards, we'll make our way to the western mountain range and after a short 30-minute journey, we'll reach the Hostería dos Chorreras, located in the middle of the Cajas National Park. Surrounded by lagoons and vegetation of the Andes páramo ecosystem, this estate is a beautiful natural paradise.
Here, you'll have 3 hours of free time to enjoy the landscape, take tractor rides, fish for trout, and take out a boat. You'll also have the chance to visit the warehouse and enjoy a delicious meal in the restaurant next to the stream or in the Chocolatería. A huge house dedicated to chocolate awaits you, where you'll be able to taste Equatorian aromatic cacao.
Lastly, we'll return to our starting point in Cuenca, where we'll say our goodbyes after this 6-hour tour.
