Lobos Island Hike
Lobos Island Hike
Thousands of tourists visit the incredible islands of the Canary archipelago every year. However, not all of them visit the small uninhabited islets. If you don't want to miss the opportunity to visit one of them, we'll meet at the port of Corralejo at the indicated time.
From this point, we'll set sail on a ferry that will take us to the dock of Lobos Island in just 20 minutes. This small islet located in the strait of La Bocayna, the arm of the sea that separates Fuerteventura from Lanzarote, has beautiful natural landscapes.
Once we disembark on the islet, we'll go to the Visitor Centre to pick up the walking poles that will help us to walk. Once equipped with all the material, we'll set off on a guided hiking route around Lobos Island. We'll arrive at La Concha, a spectacular white sandy beach. Here, we'll see the semicircular bay and the nearby Roman archaeological site; an ancient settlement on the island linked to obtaining the purple dye of this ancient civilisation.
We'll follow the route on foot towards the volcano La Caldera passing the Salinas de Marrajo. We'll reach the summit at an altitude of 127 metres. Get your cameras ready because we will have magnificent panoramic views of the whole islet of Lobos and the Corralejo Dunes.
Then, we'll start the descent until we reach Martiño Lighthouse, and Las Lagunitas, a wide expanse of land with volcanic rocks and covered with peculiar reddish plantations. Don't forget your cameras! Afterwards, we'll reach El Puertito. In this charming spot of blue and white fishermen's houses, we'll make our last stop to enjoy a well-deserved paella lunch accompanied by a refreshing drink. What a delight!
Finally, we'll set off back to Fuerteventura and say our goodbyes at the initial meeting point, 6 - 7 hours later.
