One of the three remaining synagogues in Spain, the Córdoba Synagogue, despite its small size, is a hugely significant historical landmark.

History

The Córdoba Synagogue was built in 1315 in the Jewish Quarter of the city. Due to its small size, some scholars suggest that it was a private synagogue belonging to a wealthy man.

After the Alhambra Decree, which expelled the Jewish people from Spain, the synagogue was seized by the authorities. However, unlike many of the synagogues across Spain, it was not destroyed.
