Mosque-Cathedral & Alcazar Guided Tour
We'll meet at 10 am at Plaza del Triunfo, near the famous Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba. After learning about the origins of this superb monument, we'll set off on a guided tour of its interior.
During our tour of this historic place of worship, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we'll visit the extensions ordered by emirs such as Abderramán III and Alhakén II. Walking through the iconic forest of columns, we'll reach the mihrab: the beautiful horseshoe-arched prayer niche decorated with meticulous details.
We'll also visit the nave of the transept, before walking over to the breathtaking Alcazar of the Christian Monarchs. There, we'll review the history of this medieval fortress and even see some remains dating back to Roman times!
Inside the Alcazar, we'll visit the beautiful Hall of the Mosaics. Did you know that this room housed a chapel from the Spanish Inquisition? Finally, we'll enjoy the intoxicating scents of the Alcazar Gardens. Among its Andalusian-style fountains, we'll see the famous sculpture of the Catholic Monarchs meeting Christopher Columbus.
Then, after three to three and a half hours of discovering two of Córdoba's must-see sites, our guided tour will conclude at the main entrance of the Alcazar.
