Discover the most avant-garde architecture with this Modern Cordoba Tour. You'll also visit the Museum of Fine Arts "Evita", located in the Ferreyra Palace.
Modern Cordoba Tour
We'll meet at a time of your choosing at your hotel in the centre of Cordoba. From there, we'll take a walk to the Vélez Sarsfield square to see the Renaissance facade of the Archbishop's Palace. Next to its main entrance, we'll see the Intelligent Building, whose exterior architecture of glass and steel will draw your attention to the contrast with the archbishop's seat.
We'll continue the tour along Avenida Hipólito Yrigoyen, to see from the Anthropology Museum and the modern cultural centre Paseo del Buen Pastor, which was opened in 2007. In this architectural complex, you'll be able to have your photo taken in front of its famous dancing water fountain, a real attraction of the most avant-garde Cordoba.
Next to the cultural centre, we'll see the façade of the church of the Sagrado Corazón. This temple, also called the church of the Capuchins, is one of the most beautiful neo-Gothic monuments in the province of Cordoba. The next stop will be at the Palacio Ferreyra, where we'll visit the collection of the Museo Superior de Bellas Artes "Evita". Inside we'll also see a beautiful decoration in the French neoclassical style.
The "Evita" museum is located in the Plaza de España, where we'll also see the façade of the Provincial Museum of Fine Arts "Emilio Caraffa". We'll also explain the main characteristics of the exterior architecture of this building as opposed to those of the "Evita" museum.
After a three-hour tour, we'll end at the Coniferal viewpoint. There we'll enjoy excellent views of the Eiffel wheel: an old waterwheel whose construction, according to some theories, is attributed to the same workshop that erected the famous tower of Paris.
Meeting point
We'll start this walking tour of Cordoba from your hotel in the city centre. However, if you're staying in other more remote areas, you should go directly to the Velez Sarsfield square. The guide will be at the time indicated on the central monument of the plaza, just at the crossroads between Hipólito Yrigoyen and Vélez Sarsfield avenues.
