Colombo Private Walking Tour

We will collect you from your accommodation in Colombo or Negombo at 9 am before beginning our tour of Sri Lanka's most populated city and its commercial capital.

Normally the itinerary begins with a visit to Gangaramaya Temple, located next to Beira Lake, where we admire the world's smallest Buddha statue. We also usually enter the Temple of Sri Kailawasanathan Swami Devasthanam Kovil, one of the oldest and largest Hindu shrines in Colombo. We pause there to contemplate its amazing towers, which are decorated with hundreds of colorful statues.

We will also pass through the magnificent Independence Square which is home to the Commemoration Hall, a national monument to Sri Lanka's liberation from British rule in 1948. We will also pass through the huge Galle Face Green urban park which overlooks the ocean. Built in 1859 by Governor Sir Henry George Ward as a venue for horseracing, cricket, polo, and other sports, today it is the most popular waterfront promenade in Colombo.

Other stops usually made on this route are the Lotus Tower - a 1,150-foot high telecommunications building, Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, and the tallest Buddha statue in Sri Lanka. We will also devote some time to browsing Colombo's wonderful jewelry and artisan shops so you can buy yourself a souvenir of your fantastic visit to the city.

The tour finishes at 3 pm when we drop you back at your accommodation.
