Options
Kandy Tour (300 km)
Do you want to get to know the cultural capital of Sri Lanka? If you choose this option, we'll drive you to Kandy, which is between two and three hours from Colombo, depending on traffic.
In Kandy you can visit Pinnawala and its elephant sanctuary, the Giragama tea plantations or the Gem Museum, where you can see jewellery and precious stones from Sri Lanka and Madagascar. You can also visit the Temple of Buddha's Tooth, an impressive Buddhist architectural complex, or watch a traditional music and dance show.
Galle Tour (300km)
About two hours' drive from Colombo is Galle, a World Heritage-listed port city. Galle offers plenty of options for a great time: visit a turtle conservation centre, take a boat ride through the mangroves of the Madu River or enter the Traditional Mask Museum.
Other interesting places to see in Galle are the Meetiyagoda moonstone mines, an unusual mineral mined mainly in Ceylon, and the Tsunami Museum, which commemorates the 2004 natural disaster. But definitely don't miss Galle Fort, built by Portuguese settlers in the 16th century.
Sigiriya & Dambulla Tour (400 km)
Sigiriya and Dambulla are two of the most visited places in Sri Lanka. The drive from Colombo is between three and four hours, but if you don't want to miss out on the wonders, we recommend this option. The first place to visit is the Dambulla Monastery, carved into the rock of a mountain and whose rooms are divided into caves, it's a real spectacle!
From there you can ask the driver to take you to a traditional village, where you can learn about local customs, or to the impressive Sigiriya Fort, which is built into a rock and houses the remains of an ancient palace, parks, ponds and many more unusual places. Did you know that its name means Lion Rock?
