Activity Details
Welcome to Choco-Story Colmar! On the day of your visit, head to 12 Place de la Cathédrale in Colmar.
First, you'll get into the swing of things with a chocolate-making workshop, where you'll spend 45 minutes learning key techniques such as dipping while decorating your very own chocolate bars. Under the expert guidance of a chocolatier, you'll craft delicious creations to take home and eat.
After the workshop, you'll have the chance to explore the museum’s interactive exhibit, delving into the rich history of the cacao bean. With the help of an audio guide in English, you'll learn all about cocoa’s origins and its introduction to Europe by conquistadors in the 15th century.
Did you know that cocoa played a significant role in the Mayan, Aztec, and Inca cultures? As you explore, you'll uncover the details of this fascinating connection. The exhibition also features interactive stations where you can experience the aromas of different cocoa varieties and learn how chocolates and pralines are crafted.
Among the exhibit’s highlights is a remarkable sculpture of the Statue of Liberty made entirely from cocoa, honouring Auguste Bartholdi, the Colmar-born creator of the original statue in New York.
After touring the museum, your visit will end with a delicious chocolate-tasting session.
