When booking, you can select from the following options. Both begin at the Astoria Hotel in Coimbra and include transportation by minibus and an English-speaking guide. Below are the details of each option:
Serra da Lousa & Xisto Villages Trip (4 Hours)
After picking you up from your hotel in Coimbra, we'll head to Serra de Lousã by bus. We'll start at the small village of Cerdeira, in the heart of the mountains. This spot has been perfectly reconstructed with pretty houses that blend into the natural landscape thanks to the shale stones, clay, and brown wood with which they were built.
Then we'll visit some of the villages of Xisto, like Candal. Hidden within the mountains on a south-facing hill, we'll wander through its picturesque streets uphill and enjoy the best scenic views of the valley from a viewpoint. Your efforts will be worth it!
We'll also stop at the village of Talasnal, the biggest and best-preserved village. There, we'll lose ourselves among slate houses, oaks, cork trees, and tiny cobblestone streets and paths that will transport you to a dream-like world.
Finally, we'll return to the hotels in Coimbra after a day exploring a beautiful wilderness in rural Portugal.
Slate Villages of Serra da Lousã (8 Hours)
This option takes us into the scenic mountains of Sicó and Lousã to explore the captivating natural landscapes and charming inland villages of Portugal. We'll follow a route through the iconic slate-built villages of Serra da Lousã, including Cerdeira, Candal, Talasnal, and Casal Novo.
Next, we'll visit Trevim to see the famous Lousã Swing. Afterward, we'll enjoy a delicious lunch and wrap up the experience with a tasting of PDO-certified sheep and goat cheeses, olive oils, bread, and wine in Rabaçal.
We’ll return to the meeting point approximately eight hours after starting the tour.
