Tarata, Cliza & La Angostura Lake Trip
Tarata, Cliza & La Angostura Lake Trip
After meeting at 10 am in the Plaza de Colón square in Cochabamba, we'll set off for Tarata, located about 50 minutes away.
We'll spend two and a half hours exploring Tarata. We'll walk through its streets and squares admiring the town's history with buildings such as San Pedro church, the Town Hall and many more. We'll also see the Melgarejo Bridge which is fascinatingly located in the middle of a street. On the tour, we'll find out what it's doing there!
We'll make a stop to recharge our batteries with a traditional meal. We'll enjoy a main course accompanied by a typical drink, the chicha de maíz. After lunch, we'll continue walking and visit the Tarata market before getting back on the minibus.
Next, we'll head to the carob forest of Tiataco, just 15 minutes away. When we arrive we'll go on a short 35-minute hike among the trees as we learn a little more about the Andean culture. What's more, we'll also briefly visit the village of Tiataco before taking the minibus to Cliza.
The trip will continue at the Cliza farmer's market and the town's main square. The clock tower, which is part of the Nuestra Señora del Carmen church, is one of the oldest in the region.
Afterwards, we'll pass by the Angostura lagoon. The views here are insane!
Finally, we'll make our way back to Cochabamba arriving at Plaza de Colón at 5:15 pm.
