Cochabamba Churches Tour
Cochabamba Churches Tour
We'll meet at the Plaza de Colón at the appointed time to begin this tour of the most important churches of the metropolitan axis of Cochabamba, which includes districts such as Tiquipaya and Quillacollo.
We'll start with a visit to the exterior of the Cathedral of San Sebastian to admire its beautiful portico of Corinthian columns and semicircular arches, and its striking pointed rose window. We'll learn about the history of the construction of this temple, and then we'll stop in front of the parish church of San Miguel de Tiquipaya. You'll be amazed by its beautiful two-coloured façade and its stepped bell tower.
We'll then move to the outskirts to see the church of Santiago Apóstol de El Paso. We'll discover the importance of this chapel for the community, and then we'll go to Quillacollo.
Here we'll first visit the exterior of the cathedral of San Ildefonso, located in a quiet square where we'll take the opportunity to review the four centuries of history of this basilica.
Next, we'll go to the sanctuary of the Virgin of Urkupiña, also in Quillacollo. This area holds a religious legend related to the Virgen María Asunta, which we'll reveal to you at the end of the tour to finish the tour on a high!
After a four-hour tour, we'll return to the starting point.
