Agroflori & Villa Albina Excursion

We'll pick you up at 10 am at your hotel in Cochabamba for an excursion to the bird sanctuary of Parque de Aves Agroflori.

Once there, we'll begin exploring this nature reserve that is dedicated to the protection of abused animals. The initiative arose more than two decades ago after its founder, Marcelo Antezana, witnessed the trafficking of exotic animals while working at the airport.

During the visit we'll learn about the important preservation work carried out by the park, trying to reinsert birds that have been forcibly removed, such as the Tucuman amazon, back into their habitat. In the refuge, we'll see the different species that inhabit it, such as the Scarlet and Hyacinth macaws, as well as others such as peacocks, eagles and flamingos rescued after the droughts of the lakes.

The next stop on the tour will be Villa Albina, a palace dedicated to love. Wealthy Bolivian miner Simón Patiño had this huge mansion built for his wife. Patiño, who made his fortune from the tin mines, even named the palace after her: Albina. How romantic!

This stately home is just one of the many constructions that the so-called "Tin King" contributed to the Bolivian heritage. After the visit to the residence, we'll return to Cochabamba, where we'll arrive at 3:30 pm.

Changes to the itinerary

On Saturdays and Sundays, the order of the visits will be reversed, first visiting Villa Albina and then the Agroflori bird sanctuary.
