This tour will take you across the natural landscapes of Transylvania. We'll see breathtaking places and find out about the union of Romania and the Roman Empire.
Turda Salt Mine and Alba Iulia Tour Tour
We'll meet up at the Matias Corvino monument at the scheduled time and head to one of the most spectacular natural sites in the Transylvanian region, the Turda salt mine.
Once we have arrived at our destination, we'll go underground to discover the immense galleries that make up the salt mine. Impressive walls made of salt extend over 45 square kilometers (17 square miles). We'll visit the most fascinating rooms such as the octagonal-shaped Crivac rooms, the spectacular lake, and its island, and the Rudolf Mine, so massive that it looks like a salt cathedral. At the end of the visit, you'll have free time to visit the amusement park located inside if you wish.
The next stop of the day will be at Corvin Castle, also known as Hunyad. Did you know that it's one of the largest gothic buildings in Romania? We'll take a guided tour inside this imposing building and learn about its ties to the infamous Vlad the Impaler.
Next, we'll continue our excursion to Alba Iulia, the religious capital of Romania. Once there, we'll walk through the Alba Carolina citadel, one of the best preserved in Europe, which was built in the shape of a star. We'll stroll through its quiet streets observing the beauty of its two cathedrals, one Romanesque and the other from the nineteenth century where the first kings of Romania were crowned.
After an eleven to twelve-hour excursion, our tour will come to an end back at the meeting point in Cluj.
