At the designated time, we'll meet at the Matias Corvino monument in the center of Cluj. From here, we'll set off on our journey to Biertan and Sighisoara.
We'll pass through the beautiful landscapes of the Carpathians as we head to Biertan. In this small village, we'll discover its magnificent fortified church, the perfect example of 12th-century Saxon architecture. Inside, we'll learn a little more about this village and why its customs and culture can be traced to Germany.
During the excursion, we'll also visit Medias, located in the heart of Transylvania. Its cobblestone streets, ramparts, and colorful Saxon houses make this place a fairy-tale setting. Here we'll admire the exterior of St. Margaret's church, see the Trumpeters' tower, and then go to a gypsy village to discover all about this culture and its links to the art of blacksmithing.
We'll then continue our trip by visiting Sighisoara Citadel. Its beautiful medieval architecture, perfectly preserved, has earned it the title of World Heritage Site. Here, within the ancient walls, Vlad III the "Impaler" was born: the real-life person who inspired the myth of Dracula. You'll learn all about the origins of this legend.
We'll make another stop in Sighisoara so you can grab something to eat at one of the local restaurants (not included).
After, we explain all about what life was like in the medieval city. We'll tell you about the different guilds that worked in the citadel and which gave their name to the fourteen towers that formed the wall. Nine of the towers are still standing and preserved today.
Our fantastic tour concludes with a visit to the elegant Church on the Hill. It's worth climbing each of the 170 steps to appreciate this impressive Gothic jewel up close. Inside, the restored frescoes will leave you speechless!
We'll finish our adventure after a total of 11 hours back at the meeting point in Cluj.
