Meet us at Museum Square to kick off our guided tour of Cluj and get to know this corner of northeastern Romania!
Known as the "City of the Arts," Cluj originates from a Roman colony that settled in these lands in the 2nd century A.D. Along our route, we'll pass several significant landmarks in the Old Town of the historic Transylvanian capital, taking special note of its intricate architecture.
Our first stop on our walking route is St. Michael's Cathedral. From the exterior, we'll see the lofty bell tower that stretches up to an impressive 80 meters (262 feet) tall! Then, we'll head to Banffy Palace, the headquarters of the National Museum of Art.
Moving on to Mirror Street, our route unveils a picturesque boulevard where the buildings on the right seamlessly mirror those on the left, creating stunning visual symmetry. Then, we'll come to the Metropolitan Orthodox Cathedral, located in the center of the square. Here, we'll find the statue of Avram Iancu, leader of the Wallachian Revolution of 1848. To put the finishing touches to our inclusive tour, we'll pause to admire the intricate adornments of the National Theater building.
As we wrap up our tour, we'll return to the starting point to say goodbye until next time!
