After picking you up at your hotel or the cruise port of Civitavecchia, we'll travel by minibus to the small town of Civita di Bagnoregio, about an hour and a half away.
This town, neatly perched on top of a mountain, is something out of a storybook. In fact, to reach the historic center of this village, we must cross a footbridge - the only way in! As we make our way across the famous bridge, we'll enjoy stunning views of the valleys and hills surrounding the town.
Over the course of two and a half hours, we'll take you on a guided tour of this beautiful Italian town, admiring its Renaissance buildings and the exterior of the Romanesque Church of San Donato, and checking out the medieval layout of its streets. We'll also reveal why this place has been dubbed "the dying city."
Before returning to the minibus, we'll take a break for a delicious picnic consisting of a starter, a pizza or pasta dish, water and coffee. Bon appetit!
Then, with our batteries recharged, we'll head to the sacred Gardens of Bomarzo, known colloquially as the Park of the Monsters. For an hour and a half, we'll tell you the story behind this curious place created in the 16th century by Vicino Orsini, one of the great patrons of the Renaissance. Hundreds of enigmatic sculptures, fountains and abundant vegetation create a truly magical and surprising atmosphere!
At the end of the excursion, we'll take you back to your hotel, arriving at 6 pm.
Pickup
This tour includes pickup from hotels located in the center of Civitavecchia. If you're not staying overnight in the city or are arriving on board a cruise ship, we'll meet at 8:45 am at Largo della Pace, the bus stop at the Port of Civitavecchia.
