Trekking in the Izta-Popo National Park
Trekking in the Izta-Popo National Park
We will pick you up at 9 am from your hotel in Cholula and climb aboard the minibus which will take us to the Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park, passing through the famous Paso de Cortés mountain pass on the way. We'll stop at the La Joyita car park, from where our hiking route begins.
The trail begins at an altitude of 3,900 metres, traversing the of the portillos route, a 4-kilometre path lined with snowy landscapes, coniferous forests and arid patches. And here, we'll have the opportunity to see some of the local and exotic animals including coatis, deer, coyotes and badgers.
And suddenly, in the distance emerge twin figures. Two huge volcanoes rise along the way: Iztaccihuatl and Popocatépetl. Do you know the legend that connects them? You soon will!
After four hours exploring the stunning national park, the trek comes to an end back at the starting point. From there, we will return to the hotels in Cholula, arriving around 5 pm.
