On this day trip to Soroca, we'll visit a 15th-century fort and the Romani quarter - discover the real Moldovan culture!
Description
At 9 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Chisinau, before taking a 2-hour bus ride to Soroca.
En route, we'll stop at the Thanksgiving Candle. This mighty 30m (98 ft) monument, which stands atop a rocky cliff, was built as a tribute to the unsung, anonymous heroes who have preserved the culture, language, and history of Moldova over the years.
We'll then drive to the village of Soroca to visit the town's 15th-century fort. The castle was an important stronghold during the rule of Stephen the Great, overlooking the territory on the banks of the Dniester River. After seeing the Soroca Fort, we'll leave you some time to grab some lunch.
Afterwards, we'll regroup before heading to the Romani quarter. In this area, we'll see striking castle-like mansions, many of which have 3 floors and are built from marble and granite. We'll gain an insight into what this district and its culture means to the local people
On the way back to Chisinau, we'll stop in the village of Ghindesti to visit a local brewery.
Finally, you'll be dropped off at your hotel nine hours after pickup.
