Zaña Private Excursion
After picking you up at your hotel in Chiclayo at your selected time, we'll drive to the agricultural town of Zaña. After about an hour's drive, we'll arrive at this town, founded by the Spanish under the name of Villa Santiago de Miraflores de Zaña.
We'll go on a guided tour of Zaña, visiting some of the buildings that remain preserved today including the convents of San Agustín, San Francisco and the portico of the Church of La Merced. Among the ruins, we'll check out what remains of walls, columns, arches, vaults and galleries that were once part of colonial temples and mansions.
During the tour, the guide will explain that Zaña was a prosperous city that also attracted immigrants from Japan and China in search of work in the sugar cane plantations. It is believed that the city was on the verge of being the capital of the Viceroyalty of Peru because of the importance it acquired.
Once the guided tour is over, we'll return to your hotel in Chiclayo, after a three-and-a-half-hour excursion.
