Spend the day discovering a part of the Mochica culture on our day trip to the Túcume Archaeological Site and guided tour of the Royal Tombs of the Lord of Sipan Museum. You'll have an exclusive guide just for you!
Description
Once we've picked you up from your hotel at the scheduled time, we'll head to the area around Sipán and enter the Huaca Rajada Archaeological Site.
On our day trip, we'll see the exact replicas of the tombs of the Lord of Sipan, the Old Lord of Sipan and the Mochica priest, also known as the "warrior priest". By observing these tombs, we'll discover what the funeral rites of this ancient civilization were like. We'll also see the mummy of Lord Sipán, which has been compared to that of Tutankhamun.
Afterwards, we'll go to Túcume and see dozens of pyramids from pre-Columbian Peru. The highest of them is Huaca Larga, which towers at almost 2,300 feet (700 meters). We'll then climb up to the highest part of the pyramid via a ramp and gaze out at the incredible views.
By now, you'll have built up an appetite! We'll have a typical lunch in a local restaurant consisting of a starter, a main course, and a dessert.
During our private excursion, we'll find unique objects, such as a rattle with a depiction of the god Aia Apaec, as well as what was found next to the Lord of Sipan. This Lord was the only Moche leader whose remains have been preserved. The discovery of his tomb allowed us to learn more about the Moche culture.
We'll then drop you off at your hotel at 5 pm and say our goodbyes.
