Royal Tombs Museum & Huaca Rajada Private Tour
Description
At 8 am we'll pick you up at your hotel in Chiclayo and head over to the archaeological complex Huaca Rajada or Sipan, which belongs to the Moche and Lambayeque cultures.
Here we'll find a group of huacas, a type of pyramid dedicated to religious worship. We'll explore the area including the two platforms, one of which is estimated to have reached 35 meters high. Then we'll check out the mausoleum where, according to historians, there were six levels of construction. The remains of the Lord of Sipan, the most famous Moche mummy of the area, are in the sixth and last one.
We'll continue our tour by traveling to the Lambayeque region to visit the Royal Tombs Museum. This archaeological museum was inaugurated in 2002 and has a design based on the architecture of the traditional pyramids.
We'll tour the museum for about an hour and a half and learn about its collection, which is spread over an area of more than 3,000 square meters (32,000 square feet)! We'll descend a ramp similar to those of the ancient pyramids and walk along the same route that the researchers followed during the discovery of the Tomb of the Lord of Sipan.
Once the visit to the museum is over, we'll return to your hotel in Chiclayo at approximately 1:30 pm.
